Tips:

  • Use fresh or canned pumpkin purée. Avoid using pumpkin pie filling, which contains added sugar and spices.
  • Reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe. This recipe calls for 1/2 cup of sugar, but you can reduce it to 1/4 cup or even 1/8 cup, depending on your taste preferences.
  • Use a sugar substitute. If you want to further reduce the sugar content, you can use a sugar substitute like erythritol, xylitol, or stevia.
  • Add some spices. This recipe calls for a basic blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, but you can also add other spices like cloves, allspice, or cardamom.
  • Top it with a healthy glaze. A drizzle of maple syrup or honey can add a touch of sweetness to your pumpkin bread without adding a lot of sugar.
