1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 1/2 T butter, melted
1 egg white**
**OR 3 T nonfat plain yogurt, eliminating the butter and egg white

Steps:

  • Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium bowl, mix together graham cracker crumbs, and cocoa powder. Stir in melted butter. Beat egg white till frothy and add to crumb mixture. (Alternately, combine yogurt with crumb mixture.) Press mixture firmly into a 9 inch pie pan. Bake in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use a food processor to finely crush the graham crackers. This will help to create a smooth and even crust.
  • If you don't have a food processor, you can place the graham crackers in a large resealable bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  • Be sure to measure the butter and graham cracker crumbs accurately. This will help to ensure that the crust has the right consistency.
  • If you want a sweeter crust, you can add a tablespoon or two of sugar to the graham cracker crumbs.
  • If you want a more flavorful crust, you can add a teaspoon or two of cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger to the graham cracker crumbs.
  • Press the graham cracker crumbs into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate. Be sure to press the crumbs firmly so that the crust is compact and holds together.
  • Bake the crust for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This will help to set the crust and prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • Let the crust cool completely before filling it. This will help to prevent the crust from cracking.
