LOW FAT APPLE-PECAN OATMEAL COOKIES

Low Fat Apple-Pecan Oatmeal Cookies image

This recipe is the result of my tinkering with other lowfat oatmeal cookie recipes in an effort to make them moister. The addition of milk results in a softer, cakier cookie. Great for snacks or even breakfast!

Time 50m

Yield 30 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
1 medium granny smith apple, chopped

1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda

  • Mix together brown sugar, egg whites, applesauce, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl.

Tips:

  • Use ripe apples: Rip apples will provide natural sweetness and a moist texture.
  • Shred the apples finely: This will help them distribute evenly throughout the cookies and ensure they cook properly.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing will result in a tough cookie. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking: This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just set: Overbaking will make them dry and crumbly. They should be slightly soft in the center when you take them out of the oven.

Conclusion:

These low-fat apple oatmeal cookies are a delicious and healthy treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. With their simple ingredients and easy preparation, they are a great recipe for beginner bakers or anyone looking for a quick and healthy snack.
