Number Of Ingredients 16

1/3 bunch shallots, chopped
2 stick butter or margarine
6 Tbsp flour
4 can(s) creamed corn
2 can(s) whole kernal corn
2 can(s) cream of potato soup
1/2 c sharp cheddar cheese, grated
cajun seasoning to taste
2 onions, chopped
2 lb crawfish tails
1 lb crabmeat
1 lb peeled, deveined shrimp
1 pt heavy cream
1 qt milk
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
louisiana hot sauce to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Melt butter over low heat, stir in flour. Add onions and saute until wilted. Add remaining ingredients, except seafood and cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes. Add seafood and cook on medium for another 15 - 20 minutes. Soup will be thick, (it is a chowder!)but can be thinned with additional milk, if desired.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality seafood. Fresh or frozen seafood will work, but make sure it's thawed before using. Peel and devein shrimp, if necessary.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot. If you're using a lot of seafood, cook it in batches so that it doesn't steam instead of sauté.
  • Use a good Cajun seasoning. There are many different brands available, so choose one that you like the taste of. You can also make your own Cajun seasoning using a recipe online or in a cookbook.
  • Don't be afraid to add vegetables. This soup is a great way to sneak in some extra veggies for your family. Try adding chopped carrots, celery, onions, or bell peppers.
  • Serve the soup with your favorite sides. Some popular options include rice, bread, or cornbread.

Conclusion:

Louisiana seafood soup is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that's perfect for a weeknight meal. With its combination of fresh seafood, Cajun seasoning, and vegetables, this soup is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give this soup a try.
