Time 5m

Yield 1 London Fog, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup milk (or just over depending on the size of cup you choose)
one bag earl grey tea
1 pinch cinnamon
1 pinch nutmeg

Steps:

  • bring the milk to a boil on the stove, careful not to burn it. (If you're short on time or looking for a quicker more convenient alternative to the stove, you can always use the microwave, but be careful not to blow it up. try 1 minute intervals and stir in between each to avoid heat pockets.).
  • remove the milk from the stove and pour into glass or mug whichever you prefer and add the tea bag. let steep for 3-6 minutes depending how strong you like it. (I recommend somewhere in the middle!).
  • stir in the nutmeg (optional, but it ads some extra yummy flavour!) and sprinkle the cinnamon on top. voila!

HOW TO MAKE A LONDON FOG LATTE

How to Make a London Fog Latte image

A warm and cuddly drink made with citrussy Earl Gray tea, vanilla, honey, and steaming milk. Add a bit of lavender if you want, too, for even more cozy-factor! Made dairy-free with oat milk or almond, but feel free to use the milk you like!

Categories     beverages

Time 7m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup water
1 Earl Gray tea bag
Pinch culinary lavender (optional; I usually make it without)
2 teaspoons honey (or to taste*)
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup of your favorite milk (I prefer oat milk for these)

Steps:

  • Place the tea bag in a mug and add the lavender if using. Let steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag or, if you added lavender, pour the tea through a strainer then back into your mug.
  • Stir in the honey and vanilla, adjusting both if you like for more or less sweetness or vanilla flavor.
  • While the tea steeps, heat your milk. I use an electric frother, but you can also heat it on your stovetop until steaming but not boiling, stirring frequently. Froth with a hand-frother if using.
  • Pour warmed milk into tea mixture and stir to combine. Spoon any froth over the top and serve.

LONDON FOG (MY LOW-COST, LOW-FAT VERSION)

London Fog (My Low-Cost, Low-Fat Version) image

The London Fog is a popular cafe tea made with Earl Grey Tea, steamed & frothed milk and vanilla syrup. I have neither the time nor the money to get all fancy but I love the taste, so I came up with this and a friend requested I post it. I steep my tea by the pot (in my coffee maker), but I'll break it down to one cup. Feel free to post comments. I have switched this recipe to skim milk but I have made it with skim milk powder. Most people don't care for powder but I live in the middle of nowhere and sometimes I run out of fresh and that's where the original recipe was created one day when I really needed a nice comfort bevvie on a cold winter day and if I add just enough vanilla & honey it helps to cut the taste of the powder :-) Blessings ♥

Time 5m

Yield 1 cup, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon earl grey tea (aka, one tea bag, recommend Twinnings Earl Grey)
1 teaspoon honey, liquid
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (or to taste)
3 tablespoons skim milk

Steps:

  • Place tea bag in a measuring cup and add boiling water, steep for at least 3min.
  • In your favourite mug, mix together honey, vanilla & milk.
  • Heat in microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Remove bag from tea and pour in your mug with the heated milk.
  • Stir. (If you have one of those mini frothers, froth the milk before adding the tea even better :-).
  • Enjoy. Careful, it's hot!

Tips:

  • Use loose-leaf Earl Grey tea for the best flavor. Cheap tea bags can make your London Fog taste bitter.
  • If you don't have vanilla syrup, you can make your own by simmering 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of water, and 1 vanilla bean for 5 minutes. Remove the vanilla bean and store the syrup in a jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • For a vegan London Fog, use almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk instead of cow's milk.
  • To make a decaf London Fog, use decaffeinated Earl Grey tea.
  • If you like your London Fog sweet, add more vanilla syrup or honey to taste.
  • Garnish your London Fog with a sprinkle of ground nutmeg or cinnamon for extra flavor.

Conclusion:

The London Fog is a delicious and comforting tea drink that is perfect for any time of day. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a warm and cozy drink, give the London Fog a try!
