LINCOLN LOG
As an appetizer for my Presidents' Day dinner, I reshaped a favorite cheese ball recipe into this log. Rolled in nuts and sprouting herb sprig "branches", it was a fun and flavorful way to honor one of our most famous leaders. -Mary Beth de Ribeaux, Gaithersburg, Maryland

Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better your Lincoln Logs will taste. Use real butter, pure vanilla extract, and unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help to incorporate air into the batter, making your Lincoln Logs light and airy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
- Mix in the dry ingredients gradually: This will help to prevent the batter from becoming lumpy.
- Do not overmix the batter: Overmixing can make the batter tough.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking: This will help the cookies to hold their shape.
- Bake the cookies in a preheated oven: This will help to ensure that they bake evenly.
- Cool the cookies on a wire rack before serving: This will help to prevent them from becoming soggy.
