Yield Makes about 2 3/4 cups

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tablespoons ground cumin
1 1/2 cups olive oil
1/4 cup minced seeded jalapeño chilies
12 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
3/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
3 tablespoons Sherry wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Stir cumin in heavy skillet over medium-low heat until fragrant, about 4 minutes.
  • Heat oil in heavy large saucepan until thermometer registers 175°F(do not boil). Remove from heat. Mix in cumin, jalapeño, garlic, salt and pepper, then fresh lime juice, chopped cilantro and vinegar. Cool completely.

Tips:

- Use Persian limes: They’re the juiciest, most flavorful limes around, but key limes can be substituted with good results. - Get the most juice from your limes: Roll the lime along the counter prior to juicing. This will help loosen the juice from the pulp. - Don’t over-muddle: A light hand is key when muddling the lime wedges. You don’t want to crush the lime wedges, just release their juices and oils. - Get creative with your mojito variations: Try different fruits, herbs, and spices to create your own unique mojito recipes. Some popular variations include strawberry mojitos, mango mojitos, and ginger mojitos. - Use fresh ingredients: Fresh lime juice, mint, and rum are essential for making the best mojitos. Avoid using bottled lime juice or artificial sweeteners.

Conclusion:

The mojito is a classic Cuban cocktail that’s perfect for any occasion. It’s refreshing, flavorful, and easy to make. With these tips, you can make the best mojitos at home. So next time you’re looking for a delicious and refreshing cocktail, reach for a mojito. You won’t be disappointed!
