LIME JELLO SALAD

Lime Jello Salad image

A favorite summertime (or anytime) jello salad of ours. Very refreshing. Great served as an accompaniment to a barbecue or a brunch.

Provided by Bobbie

Categories     Low Protein

Time 1h30m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (6 ounce) package lime Jell-O gelatin
1 1/2 cups hot water
cold water
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
12 ounces Cool Whip
20 ounces crushed pineapple, drained but save juice
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Combine jello and hot water; stir until jello is dissolved.
  • Add enough cold water to pineapple juice to equal ½ cup and stir into the jello. Chill until partially set; then whip with a mixer. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, beat the cream cheese. Add pineapple, beating briefly.
  • Fold in Cool whip and nuts - then combine with the jello mixture and chill until firm.

Tips:

  • Use fresh limes for the best flavor. The zest and juice of fresh limes will give your fruit fluff a bright, citrusy flavor.
  • If you don't have fresh limes, you can use bottled lime juice. However, the flavor will not be as good as if you use fresh limes.
  • Be sure to drain the fruit cocktail well before adding it to the fruit fluff. This will help to prevent the fruit fluff from becoming too watery.
  • You can use any type of fruit cocktail that you like. However, fruits that are typically used in fruit fluff include pineapple, peaches, pears, and cherries.
  • If you want a more colorful fruit fluff, you can add some chopped fresh fruit, such as strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries.
  • Serve the fruit fluff immediately or chill it for a few hours before serving. The fruit fluff will thicken as it chills.

Conclusion:

Lime jello fruit fluff is a light and refreshing dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be made ahead of time. This dessert is also a good source of vitamin C and fiber. So next time you are looking for a delicious and healthy dessert, give lime jello fruit fluff a try.
