This sounds weird, it tastes great. My mom made this every thanksgiving and Christmas. I lost the recipe, then found something similar and added the ingredients that mom had in her salad. To me its comfort food and a walk down memory lane.

LIME GELATIN SALAD I

Lime Gelatin Salad I image

This is a great recipe my mom got from my aunt. She has made it every year for Thanksgiving. It is a family tradition for us. It can be made a day or two ahead of time, if you like. It looks just beautiful in a cut crystal bowl. Thanksgiving is not the same without it for us! We just 'gobble' it up! Chopped walnuts can be substituted for chopped pecans.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients. Fresh limes, lemons, and oranges will give your salad the best flavor.
  • Chill your ingredients before assembling the salad. This will help the salad stay cold and refreshing.
  • Use a variety of textures. Add some crunchy celery, nuts, or cranberries to give your salad some texture.
  • Don't overmix the salad. Gently toss the ingredients together until they are combined. Overmixing will make the salad mushy.
  • Serve the salad immediately. Jello salads are best enjoyed fresh.
