Enjoy this fun dip with crackers or veggies or on your favorite sandwich or burger. To make it smoother, add a bit more olive oil. If you prefer a more rustic texture, decrease the oil a little. -Kimberly Grusendorf, Medina, Ohio

Time 10m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 (8 ounce) cans garbanzo beans (drain, but keep liquid)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 garlic clove (or more for your own taste)
2 limes, juice of (or more for your own taste)
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon coriander
cilantro (to your taste, I put a ton in)
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
3 dashes salt

Steps:

  • Add all ingredients to the food processer and pulverize. If the hummus is too dry, you can add the leftover liquid from the drained garbanzo beans.

Tips:

  • To make the creamiest hummus, use canned chickpeas that have been rinsed and drained. You can also use dried chickpeas, but they will need to be soaked overnight and then cooked before using.
  • For a more flavorful hummus, use fresh herbs, such as cilantro, parsley, or mint. You can also add spices, such as cumin, coriander, or paprika.
  • If you don't have tahini, you can use a mixture of olive oil and peanut butter. However, tahini will give the hummus a more authentic flavor.
  • Hummus is best served fresh, but it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can also freeze hummus for up to 3 months.

Conclusion:

Lime cilantro hummus is a delicious and versatile dip or spread. It is perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a snack. It is also a healthy way to get your daily dose of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy snack, try making lime cilantro hummus.
