3 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons brown sugar

1 box frozen lima beans, cooked
1/2 c blue cheese, crumbled
1/4 c beef consomme
2 tsp melted butter
1/8 tsp paprika
2 Tbsp bread crumbs

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix all ingredients except bread crumbs. Put in a casserole dish and top with bread crumbs.

1 small onion, chopped fine
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
2 pkg (12 oz. ea) frozen fordhook lima beans
1 can(s) (10-3/4 oz.) condensed cream of celery soup
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
1 c grated cheddar cheese
1/2 c fine bread crumbs, buttered if desired

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, bring 1 to 1-1/2 cups water to a boil. Add the lima beans. Bring to second boil; cover and simmer about 20 minutes, or until beans are almost tender. Remove from heat and drain completely.
  • 2. Transfer the beans to a large mixing bowl and add the onion, green pepper, salt and black pepper. Mix well with spoon. Add the celery soup, undiluted, and mix well.
  • 3. Turn mixture into a greased (may use Pam) 9x13x2" baking dish. Top mixture with the cheese and then the bread crumbs.
  • 4. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
  • 5. Serve while hot with a favorite meat, or on its own with a salad and bread.

1/2 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
