OLIVE GARDEN ALFREDO SAUCE - LIGHT VERSION

Olive Garden Alfredo sauce - light version image

Tastes like the Olive Garden's sauce, but with less calories!

Provided by Christine Chamberlain

Categories     Pasta Sides

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 7

12 oz can of non-fat evaporated milk
1 stick margarine
4 Tbsp low-fat cream cheese (2 oz.)
3/4 c grated parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
salt, to taste
white pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Combine milk, margarine, and cream cheese in heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stir constantly, until all ingredients are blended.
  • 2. Add parmesan cheese and garlic. Reduce heat to low and simmer 15-20 min. Stir occassionally to prevent sticking.
  • 3. Season with salt and white pepper.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality Parmesan cheese. The better the cheese, the better the sauce will taste. Look for a Parmesan that is aged for at least 12 months.
  • Don't overcook the sauce. Alfredo sauce should be cooked until it is just thickened and creamy. If you overcook it, it will become too thick and gloopy.
  • Add the pasta to the sauce, not the other way around. This will help the sauce to coat the pasta evenly.
  • Serve the sauce immediately. Alfredo sauce is best when it is served fresh. If you need to make it ahead of time, store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Alfredo sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of dishes. It is a great way to add flavor and richness to pasta, chicken, seafood, and vegetables. If you are looking for a simple and easy Alfredo sauce recipe, the one provided in this article is a great option. It is made with just a few simple ingredients and can be ready in under 30 minutes.
