Time 5m

Yield 1 classic whiskey sour

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 ounces whiskey
1 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1/4 ounce pasteurized egg white
Ice
Lemon peel, for garnish
Cherry, for garnish

Steps:

  • Shake the whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup and pasteurized egg white in a shaker, then add ice and shake again. Strain into an ice-filled glass. Add a lemon peel and cherry.

Tips:

  • Use fresh lemons: Fresh lemon juice adds a bright, tart flavor to the whiskey sour. Avoid using bottled lemon juice, as it can be bitter and lack flavor.
  • Choose a good quality whiskey: The whiskey is the star of the show in this cocktail, so it's important to use a good quality whiskey that you enjoy the taste of. Consider using a bourbon or rye whiskey for a classic whiskey sour, or try a different type of whiskey, such as scotch or Irish whiskey, for a unique twist.
  • Don't overshake the cocktail: Overshaking the cocktail can dilute it and make it too watery. Shake the cocktail just until the ingredients are well combined and the ice is slightly cracked.
  • Serve the cocktail immediately: Whiskey sours are best served immediately after they are made. If you let the cocktail sit for too long, the ice will melt and dilute the drink.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist: A lemon twist adds a pop of color and flavor to the whiskey sour. It's also a classic garnish that is sure to impress your guests.

Conclusion:

The whiskey sour is a classic cocktail that is easy to make and can be enjoyed by everyone. With its bright, tart flavor and refreshing taste, the whiskey sour is the perfect cocktail for any occasion.
