3/4 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
GLAZE:
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine milk and thyme. Microwave, uncovered, on high 1-2 minutes or until bubbly; cover and let stand until cooled to room temperature., Preheat oven to 350°. 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened, plus more for pan
1/3 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for pan
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon finely grated lemon zest, plus 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 large eggs
1 tablespoon coarsely chopped fresh thyme leaves, plus sprigs for garnish
1 cup fine yellow cornmeal (preferably stone-ground)
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon coarse salt
