SOY-LEMON DIPPING SAUCE

Soy-Lemon Dipping Sauce image

Tamari soy sauce is similar to regular soy sauce but is slightly thicker and has a richer flavor. It is available at most grocery stores. Besides being the perfect condiment for Broiled Black-Pepper Tofu, this sauce makes a nice addition to Soba Noodles with Vegetables and Mint -- just drizzle a little bit on top.

Time 5m

Yield Makes 1/2 cup

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 tablespoons minced and peeled fresh ginger
1/4 cup tamari soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest, plus 1 tablespoon
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice (1 lemon total)
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

Steps:

  • Whisk together ginger, tamari soy sauce, lemon zest, lemon juice, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Set aside at room temperature until ready to serve. Just before serving, stir well.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, choose fresh and high-quality roughy fillets. Look for fillets that are firm to the touch and have a mild, fresh scent.
  • Before cooking the roughy, pat it dry with paper towels. This will help the fish to cook evenly and prevent it from steaming.
  • Use a nonstick skillet or pan to cook the roughy. This will help to prevent the fish from sticking to the pan and breaking apart.
  • Cook the roughy over medium heat. This will help to cook the fish evenly without overcooking it.
  • Baste the roughy with the lemon-soy sauce while it is cooking. This will help to add flavor and keep the fish moist.
  • Serve the roughy immediately with your favorite sides, such as rice, vegetables, or mashed potatoes.

Conclusion:

This lemon-soy roughy recipe is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The fish is cooked in a flavorful lemon-soy sauce that adds a tangy and savory flavor. The roughy is also cooked until it is flaky and tender, making it a perfect choice for a healthy and satisfying meal.
