LEMON OR LIME SHAVED ICE

Lemon or Lime Shaved Ice image

Refreshing treat during the 10 hot summer months we experience each year here in the south :-) Its quick and easy to toss together. You will need an ice shaver. I like it really tart, you can make it milder by adjusting the amounts of sugar and lime juice.

Provided by Random Rachel

Categories     Dessert

Time 3m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

6 -8 ice cubes
3 teaspoons sugar (or splenda)
3 teaspoons lemon juice or 3 teaspoons lime juice

Steps:

  • Shave the ice in an ice shaver, into a cup. Sprinkle the sugar on top of the ice. Pour the lime juice on top of the sugar. Using a spoon, incorporate the gooey lime-sugar mixture into the ice. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose ripe lemons or limes: The riper the fruit, the more juice it will yield, resulting in a more flavorful shaved ice.
  • Use a sharp knife to shave the ice: A sharp knife will create finer, fluffier shaved ice that will melt more slowly and absorb the syrup better.
  • Freeze the ice for at least 24 hours: This will ensure that the ice is hard enough to shave and will not melt too quickly.
  • Make the syrup ahead of time: This will give the flavors time to meld and will make the assembly process quicker and easier.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar in the syrup to taste: If you prefer a sweeter shaved ice, add more sugar. If you prefer a tarter shaved ice, use less sugar.
  • Serve the shaved ice immediately: Shaved ice melts quickly, so it is best to serve it as soon as it is made.

Conclusion:

Lemon or lime shaved ice is a refreshing and delicious summer treat that is easy to make at home. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a refreshing dessert that will cool you down on a hot day. So next time you are looking for a refreshing treat, give lemon or lime shaved ice a try. You won't be disappointed!
