The proprietor was nice enough to give me a rough description of her recipe. After a few tries at home, I came up with this close version.

This Arnold Palmer has just a little kick to it because of the ginger. But it's so good! It's not intended to be a syrupy, sweet tea, so don't load it with sugar. Keep the taste of the ginger as the focal point.

I love this tea. It's very refreshing. The "tea" in this case refers to the infusion process used.

GINGER-ANISE TEA WITH LEMON AND HONEY

Ginger-Anise Tea With Lemon and Honey image

Got this from Middle Eastern Recipe (http://www.ummah.com/family/recipes.html). It's especially nice when you have a sore throat or generally feel cruddy, but is also delicious anytime. The ginger really comes through in a good way. Smells good too. Make sure to pour it through a fine strainer as you want to rid the tea of seeds and depending on your ginger you might get bits of ginger settling in the bottom of the cup, which makes for a very potent last sip!

Time 6m

Yield 1-2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup water
1 teaspoon anise seed
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon honey

Steps:

  • Bring all the ingredients to a boil in a small pan then let simmer for about 5 minutes. Pour through a strainer into a mug. For me this ends up making either a little more than one mug or enough for two small mugs.

LEMON-GINGER TEA COOKIES

Lemon-Ginger Tea Cookies image

Make and share this Lemon-Ginger Tea Cookies recipe from Food.com.

Provided by Miss Erin C.

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h

Yield 100 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 cups butter or 1 1/2 cups margarine, softened
1 cup superfine sugar
1 tablespoon lemon, zest of, finely grated
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 egg
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 1/2 cups flour

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the butter or margarine with an electric mixer on medium high speed for 30 seconds Add the sugar, lemon zest, ginger, and cloves.
  • Beat until combined.
  • Beat in the egg and lemon juice until combined.
  • Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer.
  • Stir in any remaining flour with a wooden spoon.
  • Pack the dough with a cookie press fitted with the desired plate.
  • Force the dough through the press onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing the cookies about 1" apart.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and beginning to brown.
  • Remove the cookies with a spatula and transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh lemons and ginger provide the best flavor for this tea. If you don't have fresh lemons, you can use bottled lemon juice, but the flavor will not be as good.
  • Peel the ginger thinly: This will help release the ginger's flavor into the tea. If you peel the ginger too thickly, it will be more difficult to extract the flavor.
  • Use a fine mesh strainer: This will help to remove any pulp or sediment from the tea. If you don't have a fine mesh strainer, you can use a coffee filter.
  • Sweeten the tea to taste: If you like your tea sweet, you can add honey, sugar, or another sweetener to taste. You can also add a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • Enjoy the tea hot or cold: Lemon ginger tea can be enjoyed hot or cold. If you want to drink it cold, simply let it cool to room temperature and then chill it in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

Conclusion:

Lemon ginger tea is a delicious and healthy beverage that can be enjoyed year-round. It is a good source of vitamin C and antioxidants, and it can help to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, and improve digestion. If you are looking for a refreshing and flavorful tea to enjoy, lemon ginger tea is a great option.
