Found this in my local market and substituted the Orange Roughy with Tilapia. Excellent choice! I serve this with steamed asparagus over a bed of steamed spinach.

LEMON BASIL ORANGE ROUGHY

I HATE FISH. Hubby loves fish. He had a heart attack and it's good for him to eat fish. I tried being supportive to him and setting a good example for the kids in the process. Didn't work out so well. Me sitting there forcing the stuff down with my nose plugged like it was bad medicine. So I make this for them, and I have chicken. Looks somewhat similar, and still sets that good example.... You can use any white fish for this.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, high-quality ingredients: This will ensure that your dish is flavorful and enjoyable. Look for bright, vibrant lemons and basil, and make sure the orange roughy fillets are firm and opaque.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When searing the orange roughy fillets, make sure to give them enough space in the pan so that they can cook evenly. If you overcrowd the pan, the fish will steam rather than sear, and you won't get that delicious crispy crust.
  • Be careful not to overcook the fish: Orange roughy is a delicate fish, so it's important to cook it just until it's cooked through. Overcooking will make the fish dry and tough.
  • Serve immediately: Lemon basil orange roughy is best served immediately after it's cooked, so that you can enjoy the crispy crust and flaky fish. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but they may not be as crispy.

Conclusion:

Lemon basil orange roughy is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. The bright, citrusy flavors of the lemon and orange are complemented perfectly by the savory basil, and the crispy crust on the fish adds a touch of elegance. This dish is sure to impress your guests, and it's a great way to enjoy the delicate flavors of orange roughy.
