Tips:

  • Choose the right cod: Select fresh, firm cod fillets with a mild, sweet flavor. Look for fillets that are evenly thick and free of blemishes.
  • Prepare your cod properly: Rinse the cod fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This will help the marinade adhere to the fish and prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • Make a flavorful marinade: The marinade for this recipe is made with a combination of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, oregano, and salt. You can also add other herbs and spices to your liking, such as thyme, rosemary, or paprika.
  • Marinate the cod for at least 30 minutes: This will allow the flavors of the marinade to penetrate the fish. You can marinate the cod for up to 24 hours if you have time.
  • Cook the cod until it is flaky: The best way to tell if the cod is cooked is to insert a fork into the thickest part of the fillet. If the fish flakes easily, it is done. Be careful not to overcook the cod, as it will become dry and tough.
  • Serve the cod with your favorite sides: This recipe is delicious served with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a simple salad.

Conclusion:

This lemon-baked cod recipe is a healthy and flavorful dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The cod is marinated in a flavorful mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, oregano, and salt, then baked until it is flaky and tender. Serve the cod with your favorite sides for a complete meal.
