Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 pkg 8 oz. each cream cheese, softened
1/4 c mayonnaise
1 pkg good seasons garlic and herb dry salad dressing mix
1 bottle seafood cocktail sauce
1 pkg (12 oz.) imitation crab
1 pkg tiny shrimp
1 c finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese
old bay seasoning

Steps:

  • 1. Soften cream cheese at room temperature. While this is softening, finely chop the package of imitation crab and set aside.
  • 2. With hand mixer, beat cream cheese with the mayonnaise until smooth and then beat in the dry garlic and herb dressing mix.
  • 3. Spread the cream cheese mixture on a large platter.
  • 4. Spread a layer of cocktail sauce over the cream cheese mixture.
  • 5. Put imitation crab and shrimp over the cocktail sauce. Sprinkle lightly with Old Bay seasoning.
  • 6. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top. Serve and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use fresh seafood: The fresher the seafood, the better the dip will taste. If you can't find fresh seafood, frozen seafood is a good option.
  • Cook the seafood properly: Don't overcook the seafood, or it will become tough and rubbery. Cook shrimp and crab for just a few minutes, until they are cooked through but still tender.
  • Use a variety of seafood: Don't be afraid to mix and match different types of seafood. For example, you could use a combination of shrimp, crab, and lobster.
  • Use a good quality cream cheese: The cream cheese is the base of the dip, so it's important to use a good quality brand. Avoid using whipped cream cheese, as it will not hold up well in the dip.
  • Add your favorite seasonings: Feel free to add your favorite seasonings to the dip. Some good options include Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, or dill.

Conclusion:

Layered seafood dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It's a great way to use up leftover seafood, and it's also a great way to impress your guests. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give layered seafood dip a try.
