Time 38m

Yield 12 wings, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb chicken wings
2 (12 ounce) bottles dark beer
1 cup barbecue sauce (I used Sweet Baby Rays Honey BBQ Sauce)
1/8 cup Frank's red hot sauce (I used Franks Red Hot Wing Sauce)

Steps:

  • Place wings in large pot in one layer so that wings are just touching. Pour in beer and enough water to cover the wings.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to Medium-High. Let cook so that there is no visible pink, turning frequently, about 20 minutes.
  • Transfer wings to plate, cover, and set aside.
  • Pre-heat broiler on High.
  • In a container with lid, combine BBQ and wing sauce.
  • Lightly brush wings with 1/4 cup of sauce.
  • Broil on High for 8 minutes, turning half way through.
  • Place wings in lidded container with remaining sauce shake to coat thoroughly. Serve hot with your choice of garnish.
  • Ms Ines recommends pineapple slices (grilled is best) and plantain chips.
  • Tips: For hotter wings, add a 1/8 cup more of wing sauce. Also, you can boil the wings ahead of time and keep refrigerated or frozen and begin at Step 5 with thawed wings for spur of the moment entertaining.

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest wings possible. Fresh wings will have a plump, meaty appearance and no signs of bruising or discoloration.
  • Pat the wings dry before cooking. This will help the sauce adhere better to the wings.
  • Season the wings generously with salt and pepper. This will help to enhance the flavor of the wings.
  • Use a high-quality BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce is the key to great wings, so make sure you choose one that you love.
  • Cook the wings over high heat. This will help to create a crispy exterior and a juicy interior.
  • Baste the wings with BBQ sauce during the last few minutes of cooking. This will help to caramelize the sauce and give the wings a delicious glaze.
  • Serve the wings immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

These last-minute broiled BBQ hot wings are the perfect party food. They are easy to make, delicious, and sure to be a hit with your guests. So next time you are short on time, give these wings a try. You won't be disappointed.
