KARO KRAZY KRUNCH

This was my grandma's recipe that she made every Christmas. Be prepared to eat way more of this than you should. It's easy and addicting. It also makes great popcorn balls.

Categories     Popcorn

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 qt popped corn
1 1/2 c pecans, in pieces
2/3 c almonds, slivered
1 1/2 c sugar
1 c margerine
1/2 c karo syrup
1 tsp vanilla

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the popcorn and nuts. Place in a large bowl that has been buttered (to prevent sticking).
  • 2. Mix sugar, margarine and Karo syrup in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for 6 to 10 minutes until it reaches soft ball stage on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  • 3. Pour syrup over popcorn mixture and stir well to coat evenly. Spread on a cookie sheet to cool and then break up into bite sized pieces.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients. Fresh fruits and vegetables will give your Krazy Krunch bars the best flavor and texture.
  • Don't overcook the oats. Overcooked oats will make your bars too dense and chewy. Cook them according to the package directions, or until they're just tender.
  • Use a variety of nuts and seeds. This will give your bars a variety of flavors and textures. Some good options include almonds, walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, and chia seeds.
  • Add some sweetness. If you like your bars a little sweet, you can add some honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar. You can also use dried fruits, such as raisins or cranberries, to add sweetness.
  • Experiment with different flavors. You can add a variety of spices, extracts, or essential oils to your bars to give them different flavors. Some good options include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, vanilla, and almond extract.

Conclusion:

Krazy Krunch bars are a delicious and healthy snack that are easy to make at home. They're a good source of fiber, protein, and healthy fats, and they can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy snack, give Krazy Krunch bars a try!
