Time 4h45m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 lbs flank steaks
1 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons sugar
2 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon salt
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1/2 cup white wine

Steps:

  • Score the flank steak the diagonally on both sides. Cut the steak across the grain (this is also usually on the diagonal) into strips about 3 inches wide. Once all tenderizing cuts have been made, cut into serving sized pieces still large enough to grill.
  • Mix vegetable oil and sugar together in gallon sized Ziplok bag. Add flank steak and soak for 20 minutes (this tenderizes the meat).
  • Meanwhile mix remaining ingredients as marinade. Add mix to steak in bag and refrigerate for 4 hours, turning occassionally. Grill over hot fire about 2 minutes per side.

Tips for Making Korean Marinated Flank Steak:

  • Use high-quality flank steak: Look for flank steak that is a deep red color with good marbling. This will ensure that the steak is tender and flavorful.
  • Marinate the steak for at least 4 hours or overnight: This will allow the flavors of the marinade to penetrate the steak and tenderize it.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: The marinade is what gives Korean marinated flank steak its signature flavor. Be sure to use a marinade that is packed with flavor, such as the one in this recipe.
  • Cook the steak over high heat: This will quickly sear the steak and lock in the juices.
  • Rest the steak before slicing: This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the steak, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.
