ABSOLUTELY PERFECT KOOL-AID

Absolutely Perfect Kool-Aid image

Who would have thought you could improve on the package directions of Kool-Aid? Well, you can! This is now my family's favourite way to prepare Kool-Aid, at one-and-a-half strength. We tried it at double-strength, but preferred this method, with this amount of sweetness. The extra flavour burst is particularly noticeable, we have found, with cherry, orange, and grape.

Time 7m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

vegetable oil (for frying)
1/4 cup sweetened Kool-Aid drink mix
3 eggs
1/4 sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups milk
3 2/3 cups flour

Steps:

  • Make the batter by beating the eggs and sugar together.
  • Gradually add the milk and dry ingredients.
  • Preheat oil to 350°F.
  • Cook in hot vegetable oil until golden brown (a few minutes, depending on heat).
  • Cool on paper-towel covered tray for a few minutes, then dig in!

Tips:

  • Choose your Kool-Aid flavor wisely. Some flavors, like grape and cherry, work better in pancakes than others. Avoid flavors that are too tart or bitter.
  • Use a light hand with the Kool-Aid. Too much Kool-Aid can make your pancakes too sweet or artificial-tasting. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make your pancakes tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Cook the pancakes over medium heat. This will help them cook evenly without burning.
  • Serve the pancakes immediately with your favorite toppings. Butter, syrup, fruit, and whipped cream are all great options.

Conclusion:

Kool-Aid pancakes are a fun and easy way to add some color and flavor to your breakfast. With a few simple ingredients, you can make a batch of delicious pancakes that the whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a new breakfast idea, give Kool-Aid pancakes a try!
