A yummy combination that one Zaar reader had down at The Epcot Center in Florida. We have also made these with strawberry kiwi, kiwi mango and guava, as well as other mixed fruit combinations. I like less alcoholic tasting drinks, so I adjust accordingly.

Yield Makes 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 kiwis, peeled and coarsely chopped
4 ounces (1/2 cup) silver tequila
3 ounces (1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons) triple sec
4 teaspoons superfine sugar
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
2 cups crushed ice

Steps:

  • Pulse kiwis, tequila, triple sec, sugar, and lime juice in a food processor until fruit has broken down but is not pureed. Pour over ice in glasses, and serve.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh kiwi fruit that is ripe but not too soft.
  • If you don't have fresh kiwi fruit, you can use frozen kiwi fruit that has been thawed and drained.
  • To make the kiwi syrup, simply combine kiwi fruit, sugar, and water in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the syrup has thickened.
  • For a sweeter margarita, add more simple syrup to taste.
  • If you don't have Cointreau, you can use another orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier or triple sec.
  • To make the margarita ahead of time, simply combine all of the ingredients except the ice and salt in a pitcher and refrigerate. When ready to serve, add the ice and salt and shake until well chilled.
  • Garnish the margaritas with lime wedges and kiwi slices for a festive touch.

Conclusion:
