KENTUCKY BLUE RIBBON ALL-BUTTER POUND CAKE

Kentucky Blue Ribbon All-Butter Pound Cake image

This is the recipe my Grandmother would make every year during the holidays. I found the recipe tucked in her Bible when she passed, and it was written in her Grandmother's handwriting. It's been in my family for at least 7 generations, and in 2012, I won a Blue Ribbon at the Kentucky State fair by following her exact instructions. Tastes like pure love!

Tips:

  • Use fresh and high-quality ingredients: Fresh butter, eggs, and milk will yield a more flavorful and moist cake. Use pure vanilla extract and ground cinnamon for the best flavor.
  • Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy: This will incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter and more tender cake. Make sure to mix on high speed for at least 2 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Sift the flour and baking powder together before adding to the batter: This will help ensure that the cake is light and airy.
  • Do not overmix the batter: Overmixing can result in a tough and dense cake. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven: This will help the cake rise evenly.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting: This will help prevent the frosting from melting.
