Number Of Ingredients 8

3 cups water
3 bags of red fruit tea
1 cup apple juice
2 cinnamon sticks
5 cloves
1 lemon (organic)
1 orange (organic)
1 tablespoon sugar (more to taste)

Steps:

  • Start by bringing the water to a boil - either in a medium-sized pot on the stove or in an electric kettle. Add three tea bags to the hot water. Let the tea steep from the recommended time (usually 5-8 minutes).
  • In the meantime, wash your organic orange and lemon and cut them into slices. In case you can't find organic lemons or oranges, you can also remove the peel first.
  • Once the tea is done steeping, remove the tea bags (and add the tea to the pot if you haven't yet). Then add the apple juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves, lemon slices, orange slices, and sugar into the pot as well and give everything a stir.
  • Cover the pot with a lid and heat the mixture on low heat for around 15 minutes. The mixture should not start boiling - it's only supposed to stay hot as the flavors mingle in the pot.
  • Taste the Kinderpunsch, add more sugar to taste, and then strain the drink to capture all the cloves and fruit slices. Serve the drink hot! You can garnish the Kinderpunsch with orange/lemon slices and/or cinnamon sticks before serving.

Categories     Punches

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 cup(s) water
4 bag(s) hibiscus tea or a fruit flavored tea (raspberry is preferred)
2 cup(s) apple juice
1 cup(s) grape or cherry juice
1/3 cup(s) orange juice
2 - cinnamon sticks
4 tablespoon(s) honey
6 - cloves, whole
1 - star anise

Steps:

  • Make the tea first - boil the water and steep the fruit or herbal in the hot water for about 8-10 minutes or so (varies based on the type of tea you choose). Discard the tea bags once steeping time is done.
  • In a slow cooker: combine all the ingredients and stir to combine. Turn on low or warm until heated, could be up to an hour depending on your slow cooker.
  • In a saucepan: combine all ingredients and bring to a simmer.
  • Ladle into mugs. You can choose to decorate each cup with some lemon or orange peel or a cinnamon stick.
  • As a final note - hibiscus tea should not be served to pregnant women, especially during the 1st trimester. It can cause hormone fluctuations and contractions throughout the pregnancy. If you'd like to avoid using hibiscus tea, substitute another fruity tea or avoid the herbal tea altogether

Tips:

  • Choose the right fruit: Use fresh, ripe fruit for the best flavor. If using frozen fruit, thaw it completely before using.
  • Sweeten to taste: The amount of sugar needed will depend on the sweetness of the fruit. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Don't overcook the fruit: Cook the fruit just until it is soft, but not mushy. Overcooked fruit will lose its flavor and color.
  • Chill the punch before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and the punch to become more refreshing.
  • Garnish with fresh fruit: Add a few slices of fresh fruit to the punch bowl for a festive touch.
  • Serve with ice: Punch is best served over ice to keep it cold and refreshing.

Conclusion:

Kinderpunsch is a delicious and easy-to-make party drink that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and tangy flavor, it is sure to be a hit with both kids and adults. So next time you are looking for a fun and festive drink to serve, give Kinderpunsch a try. You won't be disappointed!
