Time 8h15m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 medium white onions chopped
1 clove garlic crushed
32 oz chicken broth
6-8 medium potatoes chopped
2 c frozen corn
1/2 lb 1/4 inch slices of kielbasa
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 c heavy whipping cream

Steps:

  • 1. In a 6 quart crock-pot add all of the ingredients except the cream and cheese
  • 2. Stir to combine
  • 3. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours or on high 5-6 hours or until the potatoes are fork tender.
  • 4. Remove the lid and fish out the bay leaf and discard.
  • 5. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and cream to the soup and stir to combine and melt the cheese
  • 6. Serve with a nice fresh salad and some crunchy bread to sop up the soup juices and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality kielbasa: This is the star of the show, so make sure you use a good one. Look for a kielbasa that is made with high-quality pork and spices, and that has a nice smoky flavor.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot: When you're adding the potatoes and kielbasa to the pot, make sure you don't overcrowd it. If you do, the potatoes will not cook evenly and the kielbasa will not brown properly.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pot: This will help to prevent the chowder from burning and will also help to evenly distribute the heat.
  • Season to taste: Be sure to taste the chowder before serving and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may want to add more salt, pepper, or herbs, depending on your personal preference.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings: Kielbasa potato chowder is delicious on its own, but it's even better when served with your favorite toppings. Some popular choices include sour cream, shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, and chopped green onions.

Conclusion:

Kielbasa potato chowder is a hearty and flavorful soup that is perfect for a cold night. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like your chowder thick or thin, spicy or mild, there's a recipe out there that's perfect for you. So next time you're looking for a comforting and satisfying soup, give kielbasa potato chowder a try. You won't be disappointed.
