Time 1h30m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

Two 15-ounce cans sliced peaches in syrup
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
Homemade Whipped Cream, recipe follows
2 cups whipping cream, chilled in the fridge
4 tablespoons sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Drain 1 can of peaches; reserve the syrup from the other. Place the butter in a 9- by 12-inch ovenproof baking dish. Heat the butter on the stove or in the oven until it's melted. In a medium bowl, mix the flour and sugar. Stir in the milk and the reserved syrup. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Arrange the peaches over the batter. Bake for 1 hour. The cobbler is done when the batter rises around the peaches and the crust is thick and golden brown. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream
  • Chill a large metal mixing bowl and the wire beater attachment in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Pour the chilled cream and sugar into the cold mixing bowl and beat until it forms soft peaks, about 5 minutes. The mixture should hold its shape when dropped from a spoon. Don't overbeat or you'll have sweetened butter!

KELLY'S POOR MAN'S PEACH COBBLER

Categories     Fruit     Bake

Yield 3-8 people, depending

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup regular milk
1 cup vanilla sugar* or 1 cup sugar plus 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 stick of unsalted butter, softened
1 cup flour, either all-purpose or self-rising will do; White Lily is the best brand
2 medium cans of sliced peaches in lite syrup
*How to make vanilla sugar:
Fill a large mason jar with sugar. Slice a vanilla bean long ways but don't open it up. Stick vanilla bean down in the mason jar filled with sugar. Close jar. Wait a week. If the sugar doesn't look every so slightly off-white, wait another week. Wah-la. Vanilla sugar. It is soooooo good. When we catered, it was the secret ingredient in several of our most popular desserts. DON'T TELL MOMMA I TOLD YOU ABOUT THE VANILLA SUGAR IN THE COBBLER.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400. 1. Mix first four ingredients in a bowl enough to get the flour wet. Don't worry about lumps. 2. Open and pour the peaches WITH THE SYRUP into your baking dish. The one I use now is a 9x13x2. 3.Pour batter over the peaches. Don't worry about getting it perfectly distributed. The oven will take care of this. Plus, I don't trust perfect looking cobbler. 4.Set timer for 25-ish minutes. 5.Pull baking rack out and dot top of cobbler with some more butter. However much you like. Make sure to get some butter into the corners. It helps with hard sticky corner syndrome. Sprinkle more sugar on top too. However much you like. I probably use about a quarter cup but whatevs. 6.Turn pan around for even baking. Close door. Set timer for about 20-ish more minutes. 7.Take the cobbler out and let it set up for a few minutes, if you can stand it. It is worth the wait. Letting it set for a few minutes allows some kind of absorption of juice magic that makes the dough part even better. Serve with homemade whipped cream if you are from Georgia or want people to think you are from Georgia. If you aren't from Georgia, serve with good vanilla bean ice cream.

EASY AND DELICIOUS

Provided by tammy chastain

Categories     Fruit Desserts

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 can(s) peaches sliced in heavy syrup
1 c sugar
1 stick butter melted
1 c self rising flour
1 c milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 pinch cinnomon

Steps:

  • 1. Pour can or cans of peaches into baking pan
  • 2. In a mixing bowl mix together sugar, flour, cinnomon together.
  • 3. Add milk melted butter vanilla extract mix all well
  • 4. pour over peaches and bake 350 till crust rises and golden brown about 15 to 20 min

Tips:

  • Use fresh peaches: Fresh peaches are the best choice for this recipe, as they have the best flavor and texture. If you can't find fresh peaches, you can use frozen or canned peaches, but the flavor will not be as good.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the cobbler tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Bake the cobbler until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling: This will ensure that the cobbler is cooked through.
  • Let the cobbler cool for at least 15 minutes before serving: This will allow the filling to set and the crust to firm up.
  • Serve the cobbler with ice cream or whipped cream: This will add a delicious creamy richness to the cobbler.

Conclusion:

Kelly's Poor Man's Peach Cobbler is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion.
