Time 1h30m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

Two 15-ounce cans sliced peaches in syrup
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
Homemade Whipped Cream, recipe follows
2 cups whipping cream, chilled in the fridge
4 tablespoons sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Drain 1 can of peaches; reserve the syrup from the other. Place the butter in a 9- by 12-inch ovenproof baking dish. Heat the butter on the stove or in the oven until it's melted. In a medium bowl, mix the flour and sugar. Stir in the milk and the reserved syrup. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Arrange the peaches over the batter. Bake for 1 hour. The cobbler is done when the batter rises around the peaches and the crust is thick and golden brown. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream
  • Chill a large metal mixing bowl and the wire beater attachment in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Pour the chilled cream and sugar into the cold mixing bowl and beat until it forms soft peaks, about 5 minutes. The mixture should hold its shape when dropped from a spoon. Don't overbeat or you'll have sweetened butter!

KAY'S EASY PEACH COBBLER

My husband loves peaches so I found a simple peach cobbler dessert beginner cook Kay could make back in the mid 80s. And this dessert has been a hit ever since! It is my daughter's favorite dessert. Jerry loves it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. *EDITED September 13, 2015 to state~ Please do NOT use a 13 X 9 pan with this...

Tips:

  • Use ripe peaches: The riper the peaches, the sweeter and more flavorful your cobbler will be. Look for peaches that are soft to the touch and have a deep, golden color.
  • Peel the peaches: Peeling the peaches is not necessary, but it will give your cobbler a smoother texture. If you choose to peel the peaches, use a sharp knife to make a shallow cut around the peach's equator. Then, gently pull the skin off the peach.
  • Add a touch of spice: A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg can enhance the flavor of the peaches. Add the spice to the dry ingredients before mixing them with the wet ingredients.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the cobbler tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Bake the cobbler until it is golden brown: The cobbler is done baking when the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

Conclusion:

Kay's Easy Peach Cobbler is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion.
