Time 30m

Yield 40 COOKIES

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons Kahlua
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa

Steps:

  • Cream margarine in a medium bowl; Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add kahlua and egg, beating well.
  • Combine flour and next 3 ingredients, stirring well.
  • Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture, beating at low speed of an electric mixer until well blended.
  • Cover and chill dough for 15 minutes.
  • Combine powdered sugar and cocoa.
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls; Roll each ball in sugar mixture.
  • Place on cookie sheets coated with cooking spray.
  • Flatten each with a fork in a crisscross pattern.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 9 minutes.

Tips:

  • For a richer cookie flavor, use dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
  • To make the cookies more festive, decorate them with sprinkles, crushed candy canes, or mini chocolate chips before baking.
  • If you don't have Kahlua, you can substitute another coffee liqueur, such as Tia Maria or Kahlua-flavored coffee creamer.
  • Be careful not to overmix the cookie dough, as this will make the cookies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just beginning to brown. The centers of the cookies will still be soft, but they will firm up as they cool.

Conclusion:

These Kahlua Cookies are a delicious and festive treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With their rich chocolate flavor and hint of coffee, these cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
