JUST LIKE KFC COLESLAW - COPYCAT

Just Like Kfc Coleslaw - Copycat image

I copied these ingredients from the KFC coleslaw container years ago. Yes, they did list Miracle Whip, not mayo! It always goes quick, but I never get any compliments when I bring it as a dish to pass because they all think that I just picked it up from KFC and put it in my own bowl! I use the bags of coleslaw mix from the produce section of my store and chop it in the food processor, but you can use a 1 lb head of cabbage, and a couple of carrots instead if you wish.

JUST LIKE KFC COLESLAW - COPYCAT

Just Like Kfc Coleslaw - Copycat image

Creamy juicy coleslaw that the buddies at my significant other's work could not believe this was not from KFC. I have never found a recipe for the way I make it. I don't think it would be as juicy with real mayo, the sugar makes it juicy

Provided by MinnesotaCook

Categories     Vegetable

Time 40m

Yield 1 half gallon container, 12-16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

8 cups finely chopped cabbage (1 head)
1/4 cup finely grated and chopped carrot
1/4 cup finely diced onion
1/2 cup Miracle Whip
1/2 cup sour cream
1/3 cup sugar

Steps:

  • Finely Chop the Cabbage and put in large mixing bowl.
  • Add the other ingredients and mix well.
  • Put in a container and refrigerate covered. I use a half gallon plastic ice cream container. I find it best to sit over night or for several hours -- for the flavors to blend and allow the sugar to bring out the juices. I serve in tiny desert bowls as it is quite juicy.

KENTUCKY COLESLAW

Kentucky Coleslaw image

We love going to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Although we enjoy the chicken, we actually go for the coleslaw. We buy several pints at a time. I make several versions of cole slaw but we sometime just want this. I tried for several years before getting this recipe right. I think I have figured it out now.If you are in a hurry get a bag of the preshredded slaw mix. It is not quite as good as grating it yourself though. -Donna Gribbins, Shelbyville, Kentucky
