JUICY COTTAGE HAM DINNER-CROCKPOT

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 lb cottage ham (cottage butt)
3 can(s) green beans (not french style)
1/2-1 yellow onion, medium
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Drain green beans and place in bottom of crockpot. Chop onion in big chunks and spread out over green beans. My family doesn't eat the onion so I make them big enough to take out at the end. Salt and pepper.
  • 2. Place the ham on the green beans and onions. Add enough water to have about an inch of it in the bottom. I add a half of a cup to my 4qt oval crockpot.
  • 3. Cook on high for 4 hours. Good served with potatoes and corn bread. Enjoy!!

CRAZY-SIMPLE COTTAGE HAM, POTATOES, AND GREEN BEANS

Crazy-Simple Cottage Ham, Potatoes, and Green Beans image

Cottage ham is one of my favorite dishes to eat because it's rich in flavor and incredibly simple to make. Requiring only five ingredients and five minutes of prep time, this dish could quickly become a go-to meal in your household. If you can't wait the hour it takes to cook, drop it in a slow cooker in the morning, and it'll be ready when you get home.

COTTAGE HAM

Cottage Ham image

It's a Midwest thing. If you can find a smoked pork shoulder roll/smoked butt/cottage roll/cottage ham, try this. It's not a ham, although it tastes a bit similar. It's not like pulled pork either, which is prepared differently.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use a high-quality ham that has been spiral-cut. This will allow the ham to cook evenly and absorb the flavors of the glaze.
  • Use a variety of spices in your glaze to create a complex flavor profile. Some good options include brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, and cloves.
  • Cook the ham on low heat for 6-8 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit. This will help to keep the ham moist and juicy.
  • If you want a crispy crust on your ham, broil it for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve the ham with a variety of sides, such as roasted potatoes, green beans, and cranberry sauce.

Conclusion:

Cooking a juicy cottage ham in a crockpot is a great way to create a delicious and easy meal. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a ham that is tender, flavorful, and perfect for any occasion. So next time you're looking for an easy and delicious meal, give this recipe a try.
