SAVORY CHEDDAR BREAD

I often serve this cheddar bread along with bowls of steaming homemade soup. It helps warm my cattle-raiser husband and our two sons on chilly evenings up here in Canada. Baking for family and neighbors keeps me busy. Just yesterday, when he was here to check the herd, our veterinarian paid me quite a compliment. I served him some cinnamon buns I'd made-and, after tasting them, he said I should open my own coffee shop!

Tips:

  • Use freshly grated cheddar cheese for the best flavor.
  • If you don't have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Be careful not to overmix the batter, as this will make the bread tough.
  • Bake the bread until it is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Conclusion:

Jim's Cheddar Bread is a delicious and easy-to-make bread that is perfect for any occasion. It is soft and fluffy on the inside, with a crispy crust on the outside.
