RESTAURANT-STYLE SALSA

Food Network's Ree Drummond shares her recipe for homemade restaurant-style salsa that the whole family will love!

Provided by Ree Drummond : Food Network

Categories     condiment

Time 1h15m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

Two 10-ounce cans diced tomatoes and green chiles, such as Rotel
One 28-ounce can whole tomatoes with juice
1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves (or more to taste!)
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 whole jalapeno, quartered and sliced thin, with seeds and membrane
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/2 whole lime, juiced

Steps:

  • Combine the diced tomatoes, whole tomatoes, cilantro, onions, garlic, jalapeno, cumin, salt, sugar and lime juice in a blender or food processor. (This is a very large batch. I recommend using a 12-cup food processor, or you can process the ingredients in batches and then mix everything together in a large mixing bowl.)
  • Pulse until you get the salsa to the consistency you'd like. I do about 10 to 15 pulses. Test seasonings with a tortilla chip and adjust as needed.
  • Refrigerate the salsa for at least an hour before serving.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and flavorful tomatoes: The quality of your tomatoes will greatly impact the taste of your salsa. Look for tomatoes that are fully ripe, with a deep red color and no blemishes.
  • Use fresh herbs and spices: Fresh herbs and spices add a ton of flavor to salsa. Be sure to use fresh cilantro, lime juice, and garlic. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as cumin, chili powder, or oregano, to taste.
  • Don't over-process the salsa: Salsa is best when it has a bit of texture. Don't over-process it in the food processor or blender. You want the salsa to be chunky, not smooth.
  • Let the salsa chill before serving: Salsa is best when it has had time to chill and the flavors have had a chance to meld. Make the salsa ahead of time and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Conclusion:

Jeow Laotian salsa is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used to add flavor to a variety of dishes. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it mild or spicy, chunky or smooth, there is a Jeow Laotian salsa recipe out there for you.
