JELLO PINWHEELS

Jello Pinwheels image

This is a really easy recipe that I found online. It uses Jello, marshmallows, and water..THATS IT! These remind me of "fruit by the foot" or fruit snacks. I have used all different types of jello. I love orange jello with this recipe because the mix with the marshmallows reminds me of a Orange Creamsicle. QUICK TIP: Trying to...

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 pkg (3 1/2 ounce) jello, any flavor
1/2 c boiling water
1 1/2 c marshmallows, mini or 12 large marshmallow

Steps:

  • 1. Lightly spray an 8 or 9 inch square pan with cooking spray. If you do not have cooking spray you can also line the pan with plastic wrap so that it comes up the sides.
  • 2. Mix the gelatin and water in a medium sized bowl until gelatin is dissolved.
  • 3. Add the marshmallows until they are dissolved into the jello. If the marshmallows do not melt, place in the microwave for 10 second intervals until melted.
  • 4. Gently pour the jello/marshmallow mixture into the pan.
  • 5. Chill for 1 hour (The marshmallow and jello will separate forming two distinctive layers).
  • 6. Remove the chilled jello from the refrigerator and remove from the pan or peel away from the plastic wrap. TIPS FOR REMOVING THE JELLO: You may want to dip a butter knife in hot water and run in around the sides of the pan to loosen it. Also after loosening up the sides you can also roll the jello into a roll in the pan if you are having trouble getting it out.
  • 7. With the jello side down (marshmallow side up) roll the square into a roll (pinwheel).
  • 8. Use dental floss to cut the Jello into 1/2 inch slices. You should get about 10 to 12 pinwheels.
  • 9. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator until needed.

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 small box jello - flavor of your choice
1/2 c boiling water
1 c mini marshmallows

Steps:

  • 1. Spray an 8 x 8 baking dish lightly with cooking spray.
  • 2. Pour Jello into heat proof bowl. Add boiling water and stir for a minute to dissolve.
  • 3. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted.
  • 4. Pour mixture into the prepared 8 x 8 baking dish and place in refrigerator for 1 hour or until set.
  • 5. When it is set, use the tip of a sharp knife to run around the edges of the gelatin. Grab the loosened gelatin with your hands and transfer to a cutting board.
  • 6. Roll up like a cinnamon bun then slice into desired thickness. Store - covered - in fridge.
  • 7. NOTES: Any flavor gelatin will work well. Be sure to use fresh marshmallows so they melt properly.

Tips:

  • Use fresh gelatin sheets. Stale gelatin sheets will not dissolve properly and can result in a lumpy texture.
  • Bloom the gelatin sheets properly. This means soaking them in cold water until they are soft and pliable. Do not skip this step, as it is essential for the gelatin to set properly.
  • Use high-quality fruit juice or puree. This will give the pinwheels a more intense flavor. If you are using frozen fruit, thaw it completely before using.
  • Do not overbeat the cream mixture. Overbeating can cause the cream to curdle.
  • Roll the pinwheels tightly. This will help them hold their shape when they are cut.
  • Chill the pinwheels thoroughly before serving. This will help them set properly and make them easier to cut.

Conclusion:

Jello pinwheels are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a beautiful and tasty treat that everyone will love. So next time you are looking for a dessert to impress your friends and family, give jello pinwheels a try!
