JAZZED UP BBQ SAUCE

Jazzed up BBQ Sauce image

A favorite of mine the base starts with 1/2 cup any kind of bottled bbq sauce, this is nice with oven baked ribs.

Provided by Calee

Categories     Sauces

Time 4h10m

Yield 3 cups, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 teaspoon prepared dry mustard
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup molasses
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon pepper
2 garlic cloves, crushed

Steps:

  • In a sauce pan over medium heat mix all ingredients together, just until well blended and honey and molasses are melted. Do not boil.
  • This will make enough bbq sauce for about 3 racks of ribs. In a covered roasting pan, pour bbq sauce over ribs and bake at 200 degrees for about 3-4 hours, basting and turning often.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tomatoes: Use ripe, juicy tomatoes for the best flavor. Roma tomatoes are a good option because they have fewer seeds and a thicker flesh.
  • Roast the tomatoes: Roasting the tomatoes concentrates their flavor and makes them sweeter. You can roast them in the oven or on the grill.
  • Use a variety of spices: Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices to create a unique flavor. Some good options include cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Let the sauce simmer: Simmering the sauce allows the flavors to meld and develop. The longer you simmer it, the better it will taste.
  • Taste the sauce as you go: Adjust the seasonings to your liking. You may want to add more sweetness, heat, or smokiness.

Conclusion:

This Jazzed-Up BBQ Sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of dishes. It's perfect for ribs, chicken, pork, and burgers. You can also use it as a dipping sauce for fries, vegetables, or chips. No matter how you use it, this sauce is sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a new BBQ sauce recipe, give this one a try. You won't be disappointed!
