Time 40m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 15

16 ounces tempeh
3 large garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup minced fresh ginger
1/4 cup thinly sliced scallion
1/2 small habanero pepper, seeded and minced
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
3/4 cup apricot juice
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Prepare marinade: In medium bowl, whisk together all ingredients. Pour into large, shallow baking dish.
  • Then add the tempeh, turning to coat.
  • Cover and bake, 40 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality tempeh: Look for tempeh that is firm and has a slightly nutty flavor. Avoid tempeh that is too soft or mushy.
  • Slice the tempeh thinly: This will help the tempeh cook evenly and absorb the marinade more easily.
  • Make sure the marinade is flavorful: The marinade is what will give the tempeh its delicious jerk flavor. Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices and herbs.
  • Allow the tempeh to marinate for at least 30 minutes: This will give the flavors time to penetrate the tempeh.
  • Cook the tempeh over medium heat: This will help to prevent the tempeh from burning.
  • Serve the tempeh immediately: Jamaican jerk spiced tempeh nuggets are best served hot and fresh.

Conclusion:

Jamaican jerk spiced tempeh nuggets are a delicious and easy-to-make vegan dish that is perfect for any occasion. They are packed with flavor and can be served as an appetizer, main course, or side dish. Whether you are a vegan or not, you are sure to enjoy these tasty nuggets. So what are you waiting for?
