JAMAICAN GINGER BEER

My friend from St. Kitts says to skip the yeast to avoid the carbonated alcohol. He laughs at America's fascination with bubbles in their drinks. For Mel Torme I added the 'tiny bubbles'. Add flavors of your choice (vanilla, almond, bay leaves, cloves, allspice, etc.).

Tips:

  • Use fresh ginger: Fresh ginger has a more intense flavor than dried ginger, and it will give your ginger beer a more authentic taste.
  • Grate your ginger finely: This will help the ginger flavor to infuse into the water more easily.
  • Simmer the ginger in water for at least 30 minutes: This will help to extract the flavor from the ginger.
  • Use a cheesecloth to strain the ginger from the water: This will remove any bits of ginger that could make your ginger beer cloudy.
  • Add sugar to taste: Ginger beer is traditionally made with a lot of sugar, but you can adjust the amount to suit your taste.
  • Carbonate your ginger beer: This can be done using a soda maker or by adding yeast to the ginger beer and letting it ferment for a few days.
  • Chill your ginger beer before serving: This will make it more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Jamaican ginger beer is a delicious and refreshing drink that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make at home, and it can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you are looking for a non-alcoholic beverage or a mixer for your favorite cocktails, Jamaican ginger beer is a great choice.
