1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 hot green chili, finely chopped, seeds optional, or use dried red pepper flakes to taste
1 tablespoon curry powder

Tips:

  • Use fresh crab meat: Fresh crab meat has a sweeter, more delicate flavor than frozen crab meat. If you can, try to find crab meat that has been cooked and picked the same day.
  • Don't overcook the crab meat: Crab meat is very delicate and can easily become tough if it is overcooked. Be careful not to cook the crab meat for more than a few minutes, or until it is just heated through.
  • Use a good quality mayonnaise: The mayonnaise is one of the main ingredients in crab spread, so it's important to use a good quality mayonnaise. Look for a mayonnaise that is made with real eggs and oil, and that has a thick, creamy texture.
  • Season the crab spread to taste: Crab spread is typically seasoned with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or cayenne pepper, to taste.
  • Serve the crab spread chilled: Crab spread is best served chilled. This helps to firm up the spread and makes it easier to spread. You can chill the crab spread for at least 30 minutes before serving, or you can make it ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Jamaican crab spread is a delicious and versatile dish that can be served as an appetizer, a sandwich spread, or a dip. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. With its creamy texture, sweet crab flavor, and zesty seasonings, Jamaican crab spread is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
