JALAPENO POPPER PULL APART BREAD

Jalapeno Popper Pull Apart Bread image

I've become fanatical about the sour dough pull apart bread appetizers posted all over the blog world. Soooooo, here's an original one from Plain Chicken's blog.

Provided by gailanng

Categories     Cheese

Time 35m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (16 ounce) round sourdough loaf, unsliced
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons pickled jalapeno pepper juice
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup diced picked jalapeno pepper
3 tablespoons bacon bits
1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Using a sharp bread knife, cut the bread into about 1 inch slices from side to side going into both directions, repeating until entire loaf is cut. Do not cut through the bottom crust. It should look something like an onion mum.
  • Mix together cream cheese, jalapeno pepper juice and garlic powder. Spread cream cheese mixture inbetween cuts. Sprinkle diced jalapeno peppers and bacon bits on bread, making sure to lodge most inbetween cuts. Top bread with cheese, again, stuffing in between cuts.
  • Wrap in foil the entire loaf and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes; unwraping foil packet enough to expose the bread. Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • Use fresh jalapeños for the best flavor. If you can't find fresh jalapeños, you can use canned or pickled jalapeños, but they won't have as much flavor.
  • Be careful when handling jalapeños. Wear gloves to protect your hands from the capsaicin, which is the compound that makes jalapeños hot.
  • If you don't like spicy food, you can remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeños before using them. This will reduce the heat level.
  • You can use any type of bread you like for this recipe. However, a sturdy bread, such as a French bread or a sourdough bread, will hold up better than a soft bread.
  • Be sure to let the bread cool slightly before serving. This will help to prevent the cheese from melting out of the bread.

Conclusion:

Jalapeño popper pull-apart bread is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for parties or gatherings. It is also a great way to use up leftover jalapeños. With its creamy cheese filling and crispy bread crust, this bread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
