EASY CHEESE JALAPENO BAKED POLENTA (GRITS)

Easy Cheese Jalapeno Baked Polenta (Grits) image

I don't care for grits, but I love polenta! Who knew they were the same thing? This recipe is made of wholesome ingredients and is so easy. The jalapenos, if properly seeded, add a lot of flavor without added heat. Serve this alongside your tex-mex dishes in place of rice or potatoes.

2 1/2 cups grated extra-sharp Cheddar
1 stick unsalted butter
1 tablespoon hot sauce (recommended: Tabasco)
3 large eggs, well beaten
2 jalapenos, finely diced
1/4 cup canned chopped green chiles
Garlic salt

Tips:

  • Use fresh jalapeños for the best flavor. If you don't have fresh jalapeños, you can use canned or pickled jalapeños, but the flavor will be less intense.
  • Be careful not to overcook the grits. They should be cooked until they are creamy and tender, but not mushy.
  • If you like your grits extra cheesy, you can add more cheese to the recipe. You can also use a different type of cheese, such as cheddar or Monterey Jack.
  • Serve the jalapeño cheese grits immediately, while they are still hot and bubbly.

Jalapeño cheese grits are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The combination of jalapeños, cheese, and grits is a classic Southern flavor combination that is sure to please everyone at the table. Whether you are a fan of spicy food or not, you are sure to enjoy these jalapeño cheese grits.
