ITALIAN SODAS

Having an Italian themed dinner party? Play some Italian music, stick some candles in old wine bottles, and let your guests make their own Italian sodas. My kids really like these. I buy my Torani Syrup at a store called World Market - they have many flavors and even sugar-free types. The flavor combinations are endless. Under directions I've listed a few of our favorite flavor combinations. Also, Torani syrup is so versatile for other things; drizzle some on a dessert plate, over cheesecake, lace a bowl of ice cream, or mix with some whipping cream for a new flavor. Mix some strawberry flavor with lemonade. Ok, I'll stop now.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, juicy fruits: The better the fruit, the better your soda will taste. Look for fruits that are in season and have a deep, rich color.
  • Use fresh herbs and spices: Herbs and spices can add a lot of flavor to your soda. Experiment with different combinations to find your favorites. Some good options include mint, basil, rosemary, thyme, and ginger.
  • Use sparkling water: Sparkling water gives your soda a nice fizzy texture. You can use plain sparkling water or flavored sparkling water. If you're using flavored sparkling water, choose a flavor that complements the fruit you're using.
  • Sweeten to taste: Some people like their soda sweet, while others prefer it tart. Add simple syrup or honey to taste until you reach your desired sweetness level.
  • Chill your soda before serving: Chilled soda is always more refreshing. You can chill your soda in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight.

Conclusion:

Italian sodas are a delicious and refreshing treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They're easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a cool and refreshing drink, try making an Italian soda. You won't be disappointed!
