Tips:

  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the cornbread tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use a well-seasoned cast iron skillet: A well-seasoned cast iron skillet will help the cornbread cook evenly and develop a crispy crust.
  • Preheat the skillet before adding the batter: Preheat the skillet over medium heat for at least 5 minutes before adding the batter. This will help the cornbread cook evenly.
  • Bake the cornbread until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This will take about 20-25 minutes.
  • Let the cornbread cool slightly before serving: Let the cornbread cool for at least 5 minutes before serving. This will help it hold its shape.
