Time 30m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup salad oil
2 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons ground ginger or 2 tablespoons grated gingerroot
2 teaspoons dry mustard
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 lbs round steaks, 1/4-inch thick

Steps:

  • Combine first 6 ingredients. Cut meat across grain into strips 1 inch wide. Add meat to soy marinade, stirring to coat; let stand 15 minutes at room temperature. Lace strips accordian-style on skewers.
  • Broil 5 inches from heat 5-7 minutes or until cooked rare to medium-rare, turning frequently and basting with soy marinade. Alternatively, you can grill these. Serve hot as an appetizer.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly affect the taste of your teriyaki sauce. Use fresh ginger, garlic, and pineapple for the best flavor.
  • Use a good quality soy sauce: Not all soy sauces are created equal. Look for a soy sauce that is naturally brewed and has a rich, complex flavor.
  • Don't overcook the chicken or tofu: Chicken and tofu should be cooked until they are cooked through, but not overcooked. Overcooked chicken or tofu will be tough and dry.
  • Let the sauce simmer for a while: Simmering the sauce for a while will help to develop the flavors and thicken the sauce.
  • Serve with your favorite sides: Teriyaki chicken or tofu can be served with a variety of sides, such as rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Island teriyaki is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. With its sweet and savory flavor, island teriyaki is sure to be a hit with the whole family. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give island teriyaki a try.
