INSTANT POT HOLIDAY HONEY HAM

Instant Pot Holiday Honey Ham image

Whether it's the holidays or not, this honey ham is done so easily and perfectly, you can do it when you sleepwalk into the kitchen for a midnight snack.

Provided by Jeffrey

Categories     Meat

Time 8m

Number Of Ingredients 5

3-4 lb boneless, pre-cooked smoked ham (I used a 3.5 lb Kirkland Signature Master Carve Half Ham from Costco but you can find this kind of ham in practically any market), sliced into desired thickness
20 oz can of pineapple chunks with the juice
1/2 cup of ginger ale
1/2 cup of dark brown sugar (you can use light brown sugar too), tightly packed
3 tbsp of honey

Steps:

  • Using a great knife, carve the ham into desired-sized slices and set aside
  • Make the sauce by mixing the honey, pineapple, brown sugar and ginger ale together in a mixing bowl
  • Using stackable pans, pour in a little sauce on the bottom of each pan, layer with the sliced ham and evenly distribute the sauce/pineapples into each pan (If you don't have these pans and wish to use aluminum foil instead, see the "Jeffrey Sez" section of the recipe)
  • Place the trivet in the Instant Pot with 1 - 1.5 cups of water. Rest the stacstackable pansable pans on top of the trivet
  • Hit "Manual" or "Pressure Cook" High Pressure for 3 minutes per pound (I used 3.5 lbs so I cooked for 10 minutes). Quick release when done
  • Using the handle from the stackable pans' caddy, carefully remove from the Instant Pot, uncover the pans and transfer the ham, pineapple and desired sauce to a casserole dish or serving bowl
  • Enjoy!

INSTANT POT HAM WITH BROWN SUGAR GLAZE

Instant Pot Ham with Brown Sugar Glaze image

This easy instant pot ham has a brown sugar, honey, and orange glaze that makes it irresistible. Cooking it in the Instant Pot keeps it tender and juicy.

Provided by Robin Donovan

Categories     Main Dish Recipes

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (6- to 8-pound) fully cooked, spiral cut, bone-in ham
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon orange zest
½ cup orange juice

Steps:

  • Place the trivet in the inner pot along with 1 cup of water (or 1 ½ if using an 8-quart pressure cooker).
  • Lay out two long pieces (long enough to go all the way around the ham) of heavy-duty aluminum foil crisscrossed one on top of the other.
  • Place the ham on top of the foil in the middle where the two pieces cross.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the sugar, mustard, orange zest and juice, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
  • Brush and drizzle the glaze onto the ham, gently pulling the slices of meat apart to get some of the glaze down in between the slices. Reserve some of the glaze for later.
  • Wrap the top piece of foil around the ham and then wrap the other piece around it. The ham should be completely covered and well wrapped in the foil.
  • Place the ham on the trivet in the Instant Pot.
  • Cover and seal the pot and pressure cook for 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the ham (for 20 minutes for a 5- to 6-pound ham, 25 minutes for a 7-pound ham, 30 minutes for an 8-pound ham.)
  • Once the cooking time ends, let the pressure release naturally for 5 to 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
  • Meanwhile, preheat the broiler or your oven to 500ºF.
  • When you remove the ham from the Instant Pot, place it on a baking sheet and open up the foil.
  • Brush, drizzle, or pour the remaining glaze over the top of the ham and put under the broiler or in the oven for about 5 minutes, until the glaze bubbles and thickens.
  • Serve immediately.

INSTANT POT® HONEY-GLAZED HAM

Instant Pot® Honey-Glazed Ham image

This recipe is for a bone-in, spiral-cut, pre-cooked ham. When you buy a spiral ham at the grocery store, it's almost always already fully cooked which means most of the time you just need to heat it through. The ham's packaging comes with suggestions about how long to cook or heat the ham and those suggestions always recommend using an oven. I'm here to tell you that I don't think I'll ever use an oven to warm a bone-in, spiral ham ever again after using an Instant Pot®!

Provided by Joan A. Peterson

Categories     Main Dish Recipes     Pork     Ham     Whole

Time 1h

Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 10

¼ cup water
6 ½ pounds bone-in, spiral-cut ham
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup honey
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 pinch freshly grated nutmeg
1 pinch ground cloves

Steps:

  • Pour water into the steel basin of a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®). Place the ham, sliced side-down, into the pot.
  • Mix brown sugar, honey, mustard, Worcestershire, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves together in a bowl. Pour glaze on top of the ham. Close and lock the lid.
  • Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 10 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  • Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's instructions for 10 minutes. Release any remaining pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid.
  • Drain liquid from the pot into a bowl and set aside. Allow ham to rest for at least 10 minutes; remove to a platter.
  • Select Saute function and add the liquid back into the pot. Cook until reduced to your liking, 5 to 10 minutes. Pour sweet sauce on top of ham slices when serving.

  • If you are using a fresh ham, make sure to soak it in water for at least 12 hours before cooking.
  • To ensure that the ham cooks evenly, place it on a trivet or steamer basket in the Instant Pot.
  • Add flavorful liquids or aromatics to the Instant Pot, such as apple cider, pineapple juice, or orange juice. You can also add herbs and spices, such as rosemary, thyme, or cloves.
  • Cook the ham on high pressure for the recommended time, then let it naturally release pressure for at least 10 minutes before opening the Instant Pot.
  • To glaze the ham, remove it from the Instant Pot and brush it with a mixture of brown sugar, honey, and mustard. Then, place the ham under the broiler for a few minutes, or until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
