INSTANT CAFé AU LAIT

Everytime you drink this instead of buying coffee from the local coffee shop, you save $2 to $3 bucks. Thanks to the Hillbilly Housewife for this one! http://hillbillyhousewife.com

Provided by Little Old Me

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee
1 1/2 teaspoons powdered coffee creamer
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons dry milk

Steps:

  • Measure all of the ingredients into a coffee cup.
  • Add hot water and stir to dissolve.
  • Savor the flavor of savings.
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons is the same as 1/2 a tablespoon or 1 very heaping teaspoon.
  • If you are out of either powdered creamer or dry milk, then double up on the one you do have. This would be 1/4-cup of dry milk powder or 1-tablespoon of powdered creamer.

Tips:

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Always use fresh coffee beans, milk, and water for the best flavor.
  • Grind Coffee Beans Freshly: Using freshly ground coffee beans ensures a richer and more flavorful cup of café au lait.
  • Use the Right Coffee-to-Milk Ratio: The ideal ratio for café au lait is 1:2 (coffee to milk). If using a standard coffee mug, this translates to about 1/3 cup of coffee and ⅔ cup of milk.
  • Heat the Milk Properly: When heating the milk, avoid boiling it. Heat it until it is just steaming or reaches a temperature of about 150-160°F (65-70°C).
  • Froth the Milk (Optional): Frothing the milk gives the café au lait a creamy and luxurious texture. You can use a milk frother, a French press, or simply whisk the milk vigorously in a saucepan.
  • Sweeten to Taste: Add sugar or sweetener to taste, if desired. You can also use flavored syrups to add a variety of flavors to your café au lait.

Conclusion:

Café au lait is a simple yet elegant coffee drink that can be enjoyed at any time of day. With its rich coffee flavor balanced by creamy milk, it is a perfect choice for coffee lovers who appreciate a smooth and flavorful cup of coffee. The Instant Pot method offers a convenient and quick way to prepare café au lait, making it an ideal option for busy mornings or when you're short on time. Whether you prefer it hot or iced, plain or flavored, this versatile drink is sure to satisfy your coffee cravings.
