HERBED-BAKED EGGS

Categories     main-dish

Time 12m

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
1/4 teaspoon minced fresh thyme leaves
1/4 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary leaves
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1 tablespoon freshly grated Parmesan
6 extra-large eggs
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Toasted French bread or brioche, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the broiler for 5 minutes and place the oven rack 6 inches below the heat.
  • Combine the garlic, thyme, rosemary, parsley, and Parmesan and set aside. Carefully crack 3 eggs into each of 2 small bowls or teacups (you won't be baking them in these) without breaking the yolks. (It's very important to have all the eggs ready to go before you start cooking.)
  • Place 2 individual gratin dishes on a baking sheet. Place 1 tablespoon of cream and 1/2 tablespoon of butter in each dish and place under the broiler for about 3 minutes, until hot and bubbly. Quickly, but carefully, pour 3 eggs into each gratin dish and sprinkle evenly with the herb mixture, then sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper. Place back under the broiler for 5 to 6 minutes, until the whites of the eggs are almost cooked. (Rotate the baking sheet once if they aren't cooking evenly.) The eggs will continue to cook after you take them out of the oven. Allow to set for 60 seconds and serve hot with toasted bread.

Time 30m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 tablespoon butter
6 large eggs
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons whipping cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Coat each of 6 (6-ounce) ramekins or custard cups with 1/2 teaspoon butter. Break 1 egg into each prepared ramekin. Sprinkle eggs evenly with pepper and salt; spoon 1 teaspoon cream over each egg. Place ramekins in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish; add hot water to pan to a depth of 1 1/4 inches. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until eggs are set.

Tips:

  • Choose the right eggs: Use fresh, high-quality eggs for the best results.
  • Preheat your oven: Preheat your oven to the correct temperature before baking the eggs to ensure they cook evenly.
  • Use a variety of toppings: Get creative with your toppings! Some popular options include cheese, vegetables, herbs, and meats.
  • Cook the eggs until they are set: The cooking time will vary depending on the size of the eggs and the desired doneness. Use a toothpick to check if the eggs are done by inserting it into the center of the egg. If the toothpick comes out clean, the eggs are done.
  • Serve immediately: Baked eggs are best served immediately after they are cooked.

Conclusion:

Individual baked eggs are a delicious and versatile breakfast, lunch, or dinner option. They can be customized to your liking with a variety of toppings, and they are a great way to get a healthy start to your day. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy breakfast or brunch recipe, give individual baked eggs a try.
