Categories     Burgers

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1-2 lb ground beef
1 pkg dry onion soup mix
3/4 c water
1/2 c finely chopped onion
1 1/2 c finely shredded cheese of your choice
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2 c milk
3 large eggs
3/4 c bisquick mix

Steps:

  • 1. Lightly grease a 9x13 pan (or two pie pans) and set oven temperature to 400 degrees.
  • 2. Cook and drain ground beef. Add onion soup mix and 3/4 cup of water, let simmer until liquid is gone.
  • 3. In a separate pan, caramelize onions and add to hamburger mix.
  • 4. In a mixing bowl add salt, pepper, milk, eggs and bisquick mix. Beat until batter is evenly mixed.
  • 5. Take the hamburger mix and the shredded cheese to make two layers in your pan. Make sure there is a layer of cheese on top. Next, evenly pour the bisquick batter over the top of the hamburger and cheese layers.
  • 6. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and let cook for 30 minutes.

Tips:

  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the pie crust for 10-12 minutes before filling it.
  • Use a combination of ground beef and ground pork for a more flavorful filling.
  • Add a layer of shredded cheese between the meat and potato layers for an extra cheesy pie.
  • Top the pie with a layer of mashed potatoes before baking for a classic shepherd's pie look.
  • Use a large baking dish to prevent the filling from overflowing.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
