Bundt® Cake Icing That Doesn't Run image

We all want that perfectly white, beautiful glaze glaze to add to our Bundt® cakes. There's a secret to making sure it's thick enough to not run or seep into your cake. And it's all about making sure it's extra, extra thick and NOT pourable. The best Bundt® cake icing is piped instead of poured.

Time 15m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cups powdered sugar, or more as needed
2 tablespoons hot water, or more as needed
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 splash vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Whisk together 2 cups powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons hot water, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl until combined. It should be thick, so add more powdered sugar and hot water as needed to reach a thick consistency.
  • Transfer icing to a zip-top bag and snip off a large corner of the bag.
  • Pipe icing slowly around the top of your Bundt® cake. The icing should be pretty stiff as you go around the cake; you can go over the same area of the cake as many times as needed to use all the icing. The icing will very slowly drip down the sides of the cake.

ICING-IN-THE-CAKE CAKE

Icing-in-the-Cake Cake image

This recipe comes from a community church cookbook. It is easy and delicious. I have friends that have made this with other flavor combinations and the result has always been good thus far. The best part is since it is not "iced", we can consider it a lower-fat snacking cake. LOL!

Time 50m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 eggs
1 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1 (18 1/4 ounce) box butter pecan cake mix
1 (1 lb) container coconut pecan frosting

Steps:

  • Mix all together with mixer.
  • Bake in a well-greased bundt pan at 375 for 45-55 minutes.
  • Cool 20 minutes before turning out on cake plate.

Tips:

  • Use quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will result in a better tasting cake.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter, more tender cake.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Gradually add the flour and baking powder to the batter, mixing until just combined: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven: This will help ensure that the cake bakes evenly.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting: This will help prevent the frosting from melting.
  • Use a variety of frosting techniques to create a beautiful and delicious cake: You can pipe frosting, spread it on with a knife, or even use a spatula to create a rustic look.
  • Be creative with your decorations: You can use sprinkles, candies, or even fresh fruit to decorate your cake.

Conclusion:

With a little planning and effort, you can create a delicious and beautiful cake that will impress your friends and family. So next time you're in the mood for something sweet, try making one of these delicious cake recipes. You won't be disappointed!
